IX. Pick for yourself
Lessons from Ye | Kanye West |
Pick for yourself
How often do you decide only to please your friends, partner or family?. How many of us are working on something we do not want?
Are we living now in the consequences of our past choices? Those choices that were influenced by others?.
We may be experiencing some regrets today, but some other regrets are waiting for us in the future. Who is influencing today in our decisions that we will or will not regret in the future?
We have, also the opportunity to pick for ourselves, which is damn tricky -if not impossible- but we can try.
Pick for yourself, and you may be labelled as selfish, self-centred, crazy or an attention seeker.
We tend to camouflage ourselves against the herd. We desperately want to be like the average of our surroundings because standing out will call attention. This high-risk / high-reward often encounters criticism, scrutiny, and many questions we are not even prepared to answer, so it is better to camouflage.
But it is only when we try to pick for ourselves that things start to change.
“Everyone is trying to pick a candidate for me”
“..so you think I should make every decision based on my colour?.. the most racist thing a person could tell me is that I am supposed to choose something based on my race” Ye.
Ye said, “Everyone is trying to pick for me”, in an interview with Big Boy.
