“Caring for an Aging Parent Is an Unpaid, Unacknowledged Full-Time Job.”
Medium Writer
Last week, I attended a community gathering and met many people I hadn’t seen for many years.
I was excited to meet one woman again. The last time I saw her was at her mother’s funeral. We chatted, and she was excited that she could care for her mother when she needed her most. “It was what I was supposed to do and I did my part”, she concluded.
One medium writer wrote an article about parenting and motherhood, and I copied the following quote from her article, but I have since lost the link.
“Caring for an aging parent is an unpaid, unacknowledged full-time Job.”
Taking care of aging parents, a disabled spouse, or adult children and young children is always an unpaid and, too often, unacknowledged full-time job.
For this reason, if you’re a caregiver with a passion and a career, you may need to hire others to help care for your aging parents, young children, disabled spouse, or disabled adult child.
My experience shows-
Anything adult children do for their aging parents is often acknowledged and appreciated by many witnesses, including their children and friends.
