High-profiled Congresswoman Cori Bush hired her new husband, Cortney Merritts, as security personnel, and AG Willi allegedly hired her boyfriend, prosecutor Nathan Wade.

Both women are in the news and are probably guilty of nepotism. Are they right to hire their new partner on taxpayers’ dime?

According to the Oxford Dictionary, “Nepotism means the practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives, friends, or associates, especially by giving them jobs.”

High-profile black women in any high-profile job need common sense, an executive coach, or an honest friend for career advice.

Love is never for sale for any decent man. Call me old school if you want, na you sabi.

Is it okay to bribe a new boyfriend or husband by hiring him? Maybe, but it rarely works in the era of social media. More importantly, often, it’s a free pass for a new boyfriend or a husband to manipulate and abuse his position.

Let’s see.

You have known each other for just a few months, so why give them access to your bread and butter?

Self-assured men don’t like cheap women, and they hate it when these women offer them things for free. I have been in the dating business for many decades, and I know decent men hold jobs before serious relationships or marriage.

Listen, are you a woman?

Choose not to offer your new partner a job for free. Instead, hire someone responsible that you know or an honest relative, then put a word for your partner across the river.

Okay.

Who are these two men? What is their background? How were their finances before they met their new wife or girlfriend?

Why would middle-aged men want to be on the payroll of a new partner they just met, and their income supported by taxpayers?

Hiring our partner is not against the law; however, it makes no sense for the two women’s high-profile government positions.

As I talked it out with my progressive friend, he asserted, “Those men will never want their women to be with them at work.”

That is right; men rarely want their women to look over their shoulders 24/7. We all need a break from our partner.

The two women’s stories are heartbreaking, and the stories are going deeper and deeper in the news.

High-profiled black women need to learn from others’ mistakes and do better. They work hard for where they are and now get tangled with these men they rarely know.

I’m still shaking my head and wondering why the right-wingers are having a field day while they are doing the same thing.

But why would a man of his proper sense want a new partner to hire him for taxpayers’ dime?

You are right; they can hire who they want. But a few months of a relationship is risky, and I bet these two men will run away.

Why?

They have not invested anything in these women.

These brilliant women have powerful jobs but need more common sense. You are not anyone on the street. You have something to lose, and your man may not.

Be wise, women. Be sensible and smart too.

Help yourself grow.

This is an opinion piece, and I believe in womanhood.
