In the earliest days of my yoga practice, it was something I crammed into my schedule where it bit. I didn’t spend a lot of time thinking about what teachers I enjoyed learning from the most and which classes I felt the most emotionally aligned with.

Eight years deeper into my practice, I still feel a little silly when I decline Saturday brunch plans because Saturday morning is when my favorite yoga teacher has her class. I feel like it makes me sound picky or worry that my peers might think I’m using this as an excuse not to see them.

Well, these are circumstances that are unique to our lives and our social circles that are hard to give sweeping advice on, I believe there is a deep importance to finding the teachers who make us feel the most supported and encourage us to dive deeper into our individual practices.

Every teacher has a different goal behind why they teach.

It’s not a matter of better or worse goals. It’s about whether that teacher's deep and personal reasons for being a practitioner themselves are in alignment with your reasons.
