Maggie Callow, Publisher

Maggie Callow is a senior majoring in Literary and Textual Studies with no minor because she has no creative drive! Maggie is mostly interested in creating the print magazine this semester and further helping people get their art and literary works to a broader audience. Maggie hopes to go to a future career in publishing and possibly teaching in order to continue to get people to see art in their communities.

Alyssa Micalizzi, Copy Editor

Alyssa Micalizzi is a senior English Literary and Textual Studies major and Creative Writing minor. Being the Copy editor of the York Review is exactly where Alyssa belongs as she hopes to work in publishing or editing after she graduates in May. Her love of writing began with an episode of The Fairly OddParents! There was an episode where one of the supporting characters, Wanda, is sitting at a typewriter and begins or continues writing her book. That line intrigued seven-year-old Alyssa so much that she sat down herself and continued it. From there, she decided to, well, Write On, just ask her 24 books, play, and short story ideas written in the notepad app on her phone.

Isabella Pham, Print Assistant Editor

Isabella Pham is a junior Professional Writing major with a minor in Creative Writing. She’s excited about taking on the role of Print Assistant Editor because she wants to be an editor after college. Her goal for the York Review is to encourage more people to share their creativity with the world. As a kid, she loved drawing, and got into writing so that she could make her own comics.

Olivia Cottle, Podcast Producer

Olivia Cottle is a junior majoring in Professional Writing with a Creative Writing minor. She is interested in game design and balance, specifically for board games. Writing is always something she has been interested in, but her specific specialization is in storytelling and fictional narrative. Eventually, she hopes to write novels and short stories, as well as for stage and screen. Podcasting is a fairly recent interest for her, sparked from her desire to learn more about tabletop role-playing games by listening to The Adventure Zone.

Jasmyn Rivers-Green, Communications Editor

Jasmyn Rivers-Green is a Senior Literary and Textual Studies major with a minor in Professional Writing. Jasmyn spent most of her middle school and early high school years with her head deep in books. As reading was her passion, it only felt right for writing to follow. Jasmyn’s love for writing began in high school where she competed in slam poetry competitions with the Philadelphia Youth Poetry Movement. Last year, a poem of hers won first place in the Bob Hoffman Writing Contest. Jasmyn has managed several social media pages during her years in college including ones for The York Review a few years ago and for her own poetry blog, A Poet’s Dinner Table.

Charles Dertinger, A/V Editor

Charles Dertinger is a Senior Mass Communications major and Professional Writing Minor at York college of Pennsylvania. Being the A/V editor for The York Review is the perfect job for someone with experience in Adobe Audition along with other audio editing software. His love of writing began in middle school with writing short stories to amuse and entertain those around him.

Rachel Palepale, Communications Assistant Editor/Youtube Coordinator

Rachel is a senior majoring in Professional Writing and minoring in Literary and Textual Studies. Her passion for marketing and the internet is what interested her in publishing online content for The York Review. When she was younger, Rachel completed the Summer Reading Programs and wrote fictional stories in her journal. As she prepares to graduate in May, Rachel is looking at jobs in social media marketing and publishing.

Tara Gill, Communications Assistant Editor

Tara Gill is a junior majoring in Public Relations with a minor in Creative Writing. Along with that, she is a freshman resident assistant on campus and is Vice President of her sorority, Sigma Delta Tau.She is looking forward to working with The York Review this semester as an Assistant Communications Editor! Her love for reading started as a child and continued to develop more and more through high school. In college, she knew that she had to pursue a minor in Creative Writing in order to keep expanding her passion. She knew this decision was for the best when she took Poetry Writing her sophomore year.

Evelyn Giffin, Communications Assistant Editor

Evelyn Giffin is a freshman who is double majoring in Literary and Textual Studies and Professional Writing. She’s looking forward to doing her best as an Assistant Communications Editor. As a child, she loved to read anything she could get her hands on. The first book to hook her imagination was the Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. She spent her other time watching television. She started writing in middle school when her friends would ask her to read their original stories. In high school, she wrote her first script with a friend, a sixty page original story for a project. The few who saw the stories all wanted continuations. After college, she hopes to go into screen-writing or book editing.

Taylor Groft, Online Editor

Taylor Groft is a junior Professional Writing Major and Creative Writing minor. He is pursuing this major and minor combination in hopes to find work as an editor, so being an online editor for The York Review is a perfect place to start editing professionally. He would prefer to work with nonfiction novels but loves editing so much that he will be okay wherever he lands in the field. Taylor loves peer editing his classmates’ papers and short stories because it gives him a chance to help others better their writing. Taylor got into editing in eighth grade when he spent a lot of time writing in his English class. During this year he had peer edited a lot of papers and found a lot of joy in it.

Josh Brubaker, Online News Editor

Josh Brubaker is a senior majoring in Professional Writing with a minor in Creative Writing. He is the Online News Editor for The York Review. He has worked part-time at Dick’s Sporting Goods in the team sports department for the past 4 years. He enjoys sports, specifically basketball and baseball. He played baseball for 12 years and basketball for 6 years. He likes to watch sports as well, mainly basketball since its fast-paced and high scoring. His favorite sports teams are the Boston Celtics, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Philadelphia Phillies. After school, he is hoping to get a job in sports journalism after having interned at PennLive in the sports department this past spring semester. Another hobby of Josh’s is traveling with his family. He has been to Jamaica, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, California, South Africa, Costa Rica, and Italy. Along with traveling, he likes photography, that way he can remember all of the places he’s been and share it with others.

Demonte Hampleton, Online Pop Culture Editor

Demonte Hampleton is a senior professional writing major with a minor in creative writing. Working with the York Review is a way to develop and improve his writing, so he decided to take part in it. His starting with writing began with him accidentally writing an entire story for a writing assignment in middle school (He hadn’t been paying attention and didn’t realize his teacher only wanted him to write a paragraph.) He took part in The York Review last semester as the professional writing editor and returns to the position hoping to do even better.

Lee Krauss, Online Assistant Editor

Lee Krauss is a freshman majoring in Literary and Textual Studies and is an online assistant editor for The York Review. Their love of writing emerged from spending all of their childhood reading classic novels constantly. They are extremely fond of poetry and spent their high school years participating in Poetry Out Loud and writing poems of their own. After college, they hope to get a job in journalism or publishing, as they are very passionate about the written word, and are the most inspired by the works of J.R.R Tolkien, Sylvia Plath, Kurt Vonnegut, and Jane Austen.

Thomas Hershey, Online Assistant Editor

Thomas Hershey is a sophomore majoring in Professional Writing and an Online Assistant Editor for The York Review. His love for writing came from playing video games at a young age. He fell in love with the stories these games had to tell, and from that he developed a love for literature and other forms of storytelling. Thomas hopes to go into editing after college, and one of his life goals is to have a novel he has written be published.
