Tell Me A Story #10: Arianna Bailey
by Isabella Pham
“Tell Me a Story” is a series spotlighting individuals on the York College campus as well as in the wider community of York. They tell a story that’s unique to them — we publish it so that you can get a glimpse of their lives. Each piece includes an unedited transcription of their response.
“Okay, I was three. As a three-year-old, I was very, very outgoing. And so, y’know how, uh, preschools do this little graduation thing where you move up to the next… thing. Like I was moving into the four-year-olds, right? So we had a little graduation and they had a karaoke machine. I would not let anyone touch that microphone. And when I was told to give up the microphone, I’d literally sit there and glare at them until they gave it back to me. And the parents were all laughing their asses off while I stood there singing my little heart out and glaring at anyone who dared take my microphone away.”
What, you may ask, is Arianna doing by a microphone now? She’s the host of her very own WVYC radio show, which airs every Sunday at 5 PM. Tune in!
“What attracted me to the radio station was the fact that I could play music, especially since we don’t have like a marching band and music was a big part of my life in high school. And so, it was one of those things where, well, the radio station was the next best thing instead of having a marching band or a color guard that I could go to because we didn’t have that. One of my favorite memories is just hanging out with my friends and just having fun talking to people while on Facebook live and just like talking to my friends from home at the same time as talking with my friends here at York.”
