Productivity seems to be the buzzword, these days, doesn’t it? Everyone seems to be talking about productivity, about how to be more efficient, how to use their time in the best possible way and so on. The conversations around productivity increased when more and more people started working from home. Since there are no work- personal life boundaries when you work at home, you end up feeling tired, more than usual. This takes a toll on you and when that is combined with a lack of rest and stress, it might affect your ability to work productively or in other words, to work as best as you can.

A lot of people are tired today, much more than they were earlier, and the task lists keep getting bigger. People now want to address the issue of their reducing productivity and want to do something about it, because if left ignored, this issue of not feeling productive could lead to more serious issues like burnout, exhaustion and could also affect your mental health and well-being. To prevent that, it’s important to work on finding a balance and to focus on increasing your productivity in a sustainable way.

Here are 3 great ways to increase your productivity:

  1. Limit your screen time

We spend so much time on our phones these days. Most of this is spent in doing things like scrolling through social media, watching videos, and consuming content mindlessly. We may think of this as a distraction, but this is what causes exhaustion. On some days, at the end of the day you might get a severe headache and your eyes might hurt in front of a screen- this is because of the mindless scrolling. Try limiting your screen time while you’re working. Also, try not using your phone 30 minutes before you sleep and 30 minutes after you wake up, this helps you rest well and be mentally fresh.

2. Budget your time while planning your day:

This is a very helpful tool that will help you complete tasks as quickly as possible. When you make a list of your tasks for the day, next to each task, put down the amount of time you think it will take you to complete that particular task. Putting it down on paper will help you stay accountable and it will also serve as a reminder in case you get distracted and start procrastinating. Following this practice will also help you figure out if you have extra time that can be devoted to rest, or towards taking up a passion project.

3. Download productivity apps on your phone:

One of the boons of technology is that it helps us with our shortcomings. So if productivity is something you struggle with, the answer probably lies in your app store. A lot of mobile apps deal with productivity struggles and help you stay focused. From apps that help you limit phone usage to apps that help you track your progress, there are a lot of ways you can look at this. These apps on your screen will actually help you reduce your screen time so you can put your best foot forward and achieve your goals.

If you feel like you’re struggling with work and productivity, it is also important to take a break, to rest and recuperate till you feel better. Once you do, you can try these tools and achieve your objectives and be the most productive version of yourself!
