Starting a business with a heavy investment is a thing of the past. Technology and the internet have made it possible for us to cross barriers of economy and geography. In this article, I’ll write about 5 business ideas that need little or zero investment and are perfect for your first business.

Cooking is a basic skill and all of us know it in some way or the other. But very few people in the world have the energy to cook delicious meals that appeal to everyone’s taste buds. Besides, most people these days wish to eat home-cooked healthy meals rather than relying on junk food.

So, if you love to cook and can run a kitchen for meal orders of large quantities, then this might be your calling. All you need is a kitchen space, which you can find in your own homes in case you don’t have enough investment to rent out a commercial space. Start advertising to your friends and acquaintances in the society and prepare food only on orders. Once you have the ball rolling, you can take your business a notch higher and get more staff to help you out.

Fitness Classes

People have become more conscious about their health in the recent times. In addition to eating nutritious food, people are also looking to find workouts and fitness regimes that can fit their busy work and personal schedule. Whether it is Yoga or CrossFit or HIIT, people are always on the lookout to find something new and quick that can help them burn the adequate calories everyday. Fitness is no longer limited to physical health but mental health is also taking a priority in people’s lives.

So, if you are certified fitness trainer, you can start your classes either in a physical set-up or take it online depending on how wish to manage your initial investments. This is another area where everyone needs guidance and once this business picks up, you can always club this business with selling workout equipment to grow your business and make it more profitable.

Tuitions

Education is popular, no matter where you are or where you go! If you’re fond of teaching literally anything under the sun, like a foreign language, school-level physics or baking cakes and cookies, then you can monetize it. Start a small business in form of tuitions, coaching or workshops. Take constant feedback from students to improve yourselves towards building a business.

If designing clothes is your passion, then start a small business in fashion. As perfectly as it rhymes, it’s also one of the profitable businesses that one can start. The store need not be a physical store but can also be an online store. This decision is based on your investment. You can always make your designs and promote it on social media. Start advertising to your friends and family, get orders and the business grows with word of mouth. The growth will take some time but one needs to be patient and consistent.

Online Reselling

This is another business idea that literally needs no investment on your part. All you need to have is a smartphone and a good internet connection. Download a reselling app like Shop101. Share products on social media, resell them and add your commission charges in every product that you resell. Everything from packaging to delivery is taken care by the company and you get your earnings at the end of every week. What’s better? You don’t need to manage an inventory and not invest a single penny. This is great for anyone who wants exposure to entrepreneurship before taking the real plunge for setting their own business from scratch.

All the above business ideas are easily doable. Some may need a certification but more importantly they need dedication and passion. There are two rules that every business should stick by and those are: a) Make a valuable relationship with customers and improve on constant feedback; b) Never underestimate the power of ‘word of mouth’ advertising. Every business takes times to grow and prosper. Patience and perseverance are the keys for a successful business.
