NFL Draft Bold Predictions

Every year we read hundreds of mock drafts done by so called “experts” like Todd McShay and Mel Kiper. While they might know what they’re talking about they can’t predict everything that happens in the draft, no one can. I’m going to try and predict a few things that I think could become correct.

Joe Mixon will be selected by the Green Bay Packers.

We all know the history of Joe Mixon, and I’m sure most of you have seen the video. As bad as that was, a team is still going to draft him. Mixon who might be a first round pick if there were no off the field issues, is an extremely talented football player. While at OU, Mixon rushed for 2027 yards and 17 TD’s in two seasons. What is most impressive about that is the fact that Mixon was splitting carries with Samaje Perine and still had over 1200 yards in 2016. With that being said, the Packers need RB help really bad. Ty Montgomery who came on strong after making the switch from WR to RB probably isn’t the long term answer. The other two RB’s on the roster are Don Jackson and Christine Michael. The Packers are dying for a RB and they’re the type of team who could really help a young man like Joe Mixon stay out of trouble. Look for the Packers to try and add more weapons to their offense with a RB in round 2 or 3, and I think Joe Mixon will be that guy.

The Cleveland Browns win the draft

Obviously this means nothing, because winning games every week is all that really matters but for the Browns fan base this will be huge. With the 1st and 12th pick, the Browns are in a great position to make some good moves in this draft. With a lot of speculation that they’ll move up from 12 to try and grab Mitch Trubisky after drafting Myles Garrett number 1 that would be a huge first round. With 11 total picks, the Browns have a lot of chances to get some good players. You have to think with 11 picks can they really screw it up that much? There will be a lot of day 2 and 3 talent that could contribute to a bad team that needs all of it. Look for them to add a RB, and some defensive help in the late rounds. I think 5 years from now we’re going to be looking back at this draft thinking wow the Browns got a lot of talent.
