End Titles For 2018: Key Highlights
Hi all! The year 2018 is close to an end. It was an exciting and extremely productive year, with its highs and lows, challenges and victories. With the support from our partners and community, The Abyss Team have executed a successful crowdfunding campaign and achieved lots of astonishing results. The most memorable moments of the 2018 season at a glance are provided below. Let us recall them together!
The year kicked off with Vitalik Buterin (co-founder of the Ethereum blockchain) presenting DAICO fundraising model, that matched our vision. We aspired to conduct the most transparent token sale, and DAICO proved the best solution.
The Abyss project adopted the democratic voting system to convey decision power to its contributors. Later on, we invented lots of other ways to improve Buterin’s raw idea, and introduced many of them, making our token sale and post-DAICO period exclusive in the scale of the industry.
In February, we signed a partnership agreement with Group-IB, an international company specializing in preventing cyber attacks and the development of information security products.
In March, we were excited to introduce The Abyss Assistant, our official mobile app for iOS, and a helpful tool for monitoring the referral network, tracking the number of purchased and bonus tokens, etc.
In April, the team presented the MS Windows version of a platform visual prototype, covering some of the functionalities of The Abyss digital distribution platform.
Also in April, we incorporated The Abyss LTD in Malta, known for its generous and effective corporate tax system and government initiatives for blockchain tech.
Same month, The Abyss have chosen Akamai as Content Delivery Network (CDN) provider. At that time we used Akamai’s technologies for delivering the prototype to end users, together with its updates.
On April 18, we have successfully launched our token sale!
Soon we announced that The Abyss gained support from Xsolla: Aleksandr Agapitov, CEO, joined the project as a Product Advisor.
In May, we presented the DAICO dedicated landing page, providing answers to the most frequently asked questions related to the fundraising model.
Shortly after that, we announced partnership with Kingsoft Cloud. The IT company has become our partner contributing both to business development in China, Asia Pacific and the expansion of The Abyss on the global video game market.
On May 16, The Abyss token sale was successfully completed, with the following results reached:
Funds raised: $15 362 418
ETH: 18 511
BNB: 199 901
Tokens sold: 188 040 754
Coverage: 110 countries
Contributors: 4 897
Later on, we announced partnership with Changelly, an instant cryptocurrency exchange service providing the fiat-to-crypto and crypto-to-crypto options.
While participating in E3 expo in Los Angeles, we revealed the major prototype update. The new version featured lots of new specials and additions. Among them was Music Wars (the browser-based MMORPG) that served as demo game and the first implementation of ABYSS tokens billing system.
The magnificent E3 event, in turn, marked the start of The Abyss global roadshow for 2018. It was our first top-level public appearance, providing a great opportunity to present ourselves to the global video game community.
In July, we presented the Pre-Alpha version of The Abyss platform. Both client and browser versions, with lots of new features, were available at the official website ahead of the schedule.
In August, Vladimir Kurochkin, President of The Abyss, visited South Korea to attend some of the events within the context of Korea Blockchain Week. His business trip programme also included a series of meet-ups with South Korean video game companies.
On August 9, ABYSS token was officially listed on Bitfinex, one of the most prominent exchanges in blockchain industry. It was a highly remarkable listing, that took us less than 3 months (or 85 days) from the end of the project’s token sale.
We also participated in ChinaJoy, China’s and Asia’s largest video game and digital entertainment fair hosted in Shanghai.
Followed Gamescom, one of the world’s largest video game events with hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, in September.
In October, we announced our buyback program that will be set up after the launch of The Abyss game platform. The purpose is to allocate 20% of our profits to buy back ABYSS tokens on the exchanges. The total buyback will be equivalent to 50% of total supply, or approximately 254 million tokens.
In November, we were excited to introduce The Abyss new official website which provided a clearer message of who we are, what we stand for and what kind of games and services we’re offering.
Soon after that, we announced our technological partnership with TeamSpeak, the leading voice and text chat app for gamers. The latest version of TeamSpeak app will be available on the platform in the form of a built-in solution. Besides, TeamSpeak services will be absolutely free of charge for all gamers playing on The Abyss.
And finally, December 2018 brought us a series of desired partnerships with game studios and developers. Atomic Heart action RPG will become the first AAA game on the platform.
It was then followed by Super Animal Royale 2D fight-for-survival shooter by Pixile Studios.
The third game was BOSSGARD fight multiplayer by Sand Sailor Studio.
At the end of the year, yet another game project joined us. It was a mindblowing Blazing Core multiplayer shooter by Octobox Studio.
Wow! Indeed, that was a marvellous year, and a good one to remember! On Jan 7, 2019, we will deliver the fresh development update report and share some technical results of 2018.
And one more thing to say to all our supporters and believers in 2018. Please watch Vladimir Kurochkin’s New Year Address below.
