Platform Development: Update 29
Please find below a regular development status report, this one covering the period from May 27 to June 9, 2019. Within this timeframe, we were strongly focused on the desktop client, Affiliate Management System and UI improvements, and also implementing more useful features, which allow The Abyss team to work and analyze the results more effectively.
Desktop client
We have developed a bootstrapper for The Abyss Desktop client: a fast-loading small (about 1 Mb) executable file, which, when launched, downloads the latest version of the client and already does it with CDN, thereby the download speed of the desktop client increased.
Furthermore, we have addressed a few software defects which allowed for the better performance of the app.
UI improvements
As for the portal itself, we have simplified the account top-up process by adding the QR-code technology, adopted by popular crypto wallets (for example, Enjin Wallet), which allows you to receive not only the wallet address but also the top-up amount through QR-code scanning.
Also, for users’ convenience, the CAPTCHA mechanism was transferred to the hidden mode. Now in normal mode, users will no longer have to go through the test to confirm they are not bots.
In the recent sprint, we have successfully completed adapting the platform for mobile and tablet devices. The final part, released in this sprint, relates to modal & dialog windows and animation adjusting. The adapted size and format of the window are targeted at delivering the best user experience.
Social and developers functionality update
Developers’ graphical user interface (GUI) utility for independent build management, patches and updates preparation has been developed and moved to the testing stage. We are planning to transfer it to current partners this week already.
While preparing the publication of Developer’s page functionality, where game statistics will be displayed, we implemented a mechanism for tracking of game sessions for web-games. This mechanism collects and shows the amount of time the user has spent playing the game. In the future, the functionality of game session statistics will be added to “My Games” page.
As part of the work on adding the social features, we have implemented the internal concept of “Active User” feature. This one will be useful when calculating the accomplishment of certain achievements.
Affiliate Management System
To make traffic attraction to the platform more efficient, we have implemented an internal affiliate management system for external partners, which allows connecting various CPA networks through the Administrator page available for marketing department employees. The system currently supports a variety of traffic offers like, for example, “Registration” and “First sale”.
We’ve also improved The Abyss internal statistics mechanism making it more effective.
Short-term development plans
We’ve analyzed possible ways of increasing the speed of response of the platform’s interface in regions remote from the current location of the portal servers (located in Western Europe). We have devised a plan for future optimization and already implemented a number of key functions. The optimization plan will take approximately one month to complete.
Well, that’s it for today. We will keep you up to date with the development process twice per month, as previously. The next report is scheduled for June 24, 2019.
Stay tuned!
Best,
The Abyss Team
