Please find below our regular development status report, this one covering the period from Oct 14 to Oct 27, 2019. Within this timeframe, we were strongly focused on the License Management System evolution, development of various marketing tools and adding more useful features.

License Management System (LMS)

In the recent sprint, we have completed data structure migration, together with all codebases, to make license purchase through SKU available. All information on purchases has been converted. Data migration has been conducted within 5 minutes without platform downtime (the time during which the website is not operating). Users could have played games and make use of the platform without noticing the data migration process.

Marketing tools

Marketing professionals (from game development companies) now have a special tool to track the efficiency of marketing campaigns aimed at attracting users to their games on The Abyss. More specifically, we have added a marketing feature that allows to create special links to their games. By clicking on these links users will be automatically registered/authorized on the platform and redirected to the game’s page. The developer, in turn, is notified about the new user exploring his game and is able to track the source of the traffic.

This tool can also be used for motivation purposes across various channels. Developers will also know whether the new user has been referred by an already existing user playing the game.

The logic of call-to-action button (on Game pages) has been moved to back-end development stage.

Desktop Client

We have added a feature allowing to create shortcuts for web games. This feature is now available in “My Games” section (“Create shortcut” button which looks like three vertically located dots in the right).

Build Distribution System (BDS)

Our Build Distribution System is evolving. We’ve been adding new features following the feedback collected from partner developers. For example, we have implemented the console version of the utility for game patches upload/creation allowing developers (using CI/CD for game publication) to update/upload builds without any assistance from The Abyss development team.

Other developments

Some other developments completed during the recent sprint include:

  • The Compact Menu currently undergoes the final stabilization stage, while its functionality has been additionally expanded;
  • We have updated parity nodes that are used for Abyss token circulation inside the platform (across various technical environments). The nodes were updated to the latest version;
  • Added game availability status on the Main page (with new game icons, users can see which games are currently available for playing/coming soon) with a shiny animation added on games icons;

Short-term development plans

While we’re working on adding new features to the platform, our short-term development plans also include:

  • The implementation of Deep Offer for CPA Networks feature that will allow to create CPA offers based on the in-game events;
  • The completion of Technical Specifications for another social feature — Friendlist;
  • Further development of our Build Distribution System;
  • Transferring the work with game sessions to the WebSocket;
  • Making HTML5 games playable on mobile devices.

Well, that’s it for today. We will keep you up to date with the development process twice per month, as previously. The next report is scheduled for Nov 11, 2019.

Stay tuned!

Best,
