Please find below our regular development status report, this one covering the period from Dec 9 to Dec 22, 2019. Within this timeframe, we were strongly focused on Public Profile testing and release, implementing Holiday activities on the platform, Cloud Storage release and adding more useful features.
Recently, we have released a massive update which contains several improvements, reworks and additions to the User’s Profile design and functionality.
First of all, now the platform’s inner system can form a Public Profile for each user according to the information specified in the profile settings. Profile settings can be opened by “Edit Profile” button on the Profile Page. In the settings, users can set the privacy of their country of origin. If it is hidden, other users won’t see an exact country which has been indicated before.
Additionally, the system generates a unique ID for each user which is used in the URL leading to the Profile Page. We have also added an Online Status indicator, which shows whether user, whose page is being visited, is currently online or offline.
Another extension of Profile functionality is that now visitors of the public profile can see all badges and achievements unlocked by a certain user, as well as his/her games in the Library and Wishlist (if there are any).
With the release of the Public Profile, we have also added a User Data Moderation process to the platform. Now, all users can report an inappropriate (or offensive) behaviour if it’s detected on someone’s Public Page.
Other developments and improvements
Some other developments completed during the recent sprint include:
- After all the necessary tests, we have added a Cloud Storage functionality for all games that support this technology. We also added it to our SDK, so it always stays up-to-date. The Cloud Storage can be switched off/on in the platform’s settings;
- We have completed the development of a special Console Version Utility for developers, where they can add their CI/CD allowing them to upload the updated builds on the platform;
- The Abyss marketing team now can create custom-built promo-pages for marketing/advertising campaigns.
Short-term development plans
Our short-term development plans include the transition of The Abyss platform from “portal” to “www” format. This is a huge task that will be completed in several steps. Currently, we are working on correct links and addresses’ logic. The recent update of the links for web-games represents a small part of this task.
We have already refactored all info pages for developers, Abyss Tokens holders and also other pages (currently existing on www) and have started developing the Single Page Application (SPA). This is another important step in terms of planned portal migration.
Starting from 2020, all development updates can be found on “Release Notes” page on The Abyss platform. We will keep posting news about major features and updates in this blog.
And since it is Dec 23 already, let us wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Stay tuned in 2020!
