And the Earth does it again!
It’s time to wish you a Happy New Year because someone has stuck to its old habit of doing the boring thing with relentless self-discipline.
It’s the Mother Earth which has yet again revolved around the sun as it has done in the past for many, many, many years. Our Earth completes the revolution around the Sun in the prescribed time at a constant speed in a predetermined orbit and we celebrate this achievement every year.
Nothing stops the Earth from doing this trip, its oblivious of all the events which happen during the year…be it political, social, economic, financial, religious, or spiritual. Imagine what will happen if Earth gets emotional and changes its route according to its mood and sentiments. Thank God …Earth is not emotional but logical in its approach towards its duties and responsibilities.
There is a lot to pick up from the behaviour of Earth and its orbit around the Sun for becoming a successful investor. Let us treat investors as the Earth, their goals as the Sun, the time to achieve their goal as the time to complete the revolution, the investment vehicle as the orbit, and the expected return as the speed at which the revolution happens.
As investors, we must identify our Sun/s (goals) and the time we need to complete the revolution; the speed (expected return) and the orbit (investment vehicle) will be a function of the same.
We wish that the new year keeps us disciplined, patient and focused like Earth and we remain emotionally strong to be on the right track to complete the revolution around our sun.
With every new year, Earth reasserts and reemphasises, lest we forget, Boring can be productive & rewarding and Exciting may not be necessarily beneficial and fruitful!
