Faith-Based NonProfit, Donate Drive Organizes Outreach Programs for Underprivileged Children in Lagos
Donate drive is a Christian nonprofit that empowers underprivileged children in several communities in Lagos, by filling the gaps in their lives caused by a lack of basic necessities such as food, property, and education.
The nonprofit organizes outreach programs where it shares donations in the form of food, clothes, and educational support to children. Through its outreach programs, the organization also preaches the Gospel to these children.
The nonprofit’s mission is to help these children escape the cycle of poverty that troubles their communities.
“Donate Drive was founded out of the desire to liberate less privileged children from poverty and to help them find God and fulfill their purpose in Him”, said Hephzibah Odufeko, the founder and convener of Donate Drive.
Founded in November 2020 by Hephzibah, an undergraduate at Covenant University, the nonprofit has been driven by young passionate youths who understand the need to mitigate the daunting rate of out-of-school and needy children in Nigeria. According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), as of October 2022, 20 million children in Nigeria are out of school. Many of these kids are left to fend for themselves from a young age or battle hunger and their families live on less than a dollar a day.
In the past year, Donate Drive has organized outreaches to children in different communities in Lagos state such as Agege, Mafoluku Oshodi, and Isheri, where it has impacted over 250 children.
As the year is coming to an end, Donate Drive is organizing another Outreach in a community at Agege in Lagos. The nonprofit aims to cater to more children than it did at its last outreach in May 2022, where it impacted over 100 children.
