Just like the rest of the world celebrates New Year’s Day on 1st January, the Chinese New Year is calculated using a lunar calendar 🥳 As it marks the first day of the lunar year and the beginning of the spring, it is believed to bring good luck and prosperity for the new year. Chinese businesses in Thailand will often close for the holiday, and street fairs and markets are set up in Chinatowns across the country.
The day of the Chinese New Year varies each year depending on the Chinese Lunar calendar. It generally falls in January or February. In 2023, the Chinese New Year in Thailand falls on Sunday, January 22 🎉️
