Recent posts in this blog have tackled some of the technical knowledge required to be an avid fish in the sharing economy waters. Probably most of the readers could have a conversation about the gig economy and how it is looking in their countries or regions, and what are some of the generic challenges needing clearance for a micropreneur to succeed. We all already know how big and transcendental this movement is, and what is forecaster for it in the near future.

It is time now to emphasise on what matter the most to anyone who is thinking of joining this movement: getting what you want. There is no point or gain from chatting how this marvellous this #newconomy is, if we are not convinced of taking the leap and doing it. Sharing economy is just a vehicle. The main objective of doing this activity (and any other activity for that matter) is to get where you want to go. To get what you want. Period.

Being with this gig economy or with something different, never lose focus of the motive that got you doing this or that. Give real importance to the things you want. Give them real weight, so it becomes so heavy to think and talk about them, that you want to unload it by achieving them. Lets see some well known and studied approaches to stay focus and get what you want.

To get what you want, regardless of what it is, you need the following features to grow strong in your inner been. As we mentioned in past posts, nothing will happen if you do things the same way you have to today. It is not my quote, but is a famous and very true one that says

“Keep doing things the way you have done them until now, and expect no different result. Things need to be done in certain way to get certain results”

To get what you want you need to be persistent, show value to the people you deals with and be ready to assume your new position.

Being persistent means getting out of your comfort zone and commit to make some changes in your life that wouldn’t seem comfortable at first, but definitely will get you to the point you want to be, or get you exactly what you want. If you are comfortable with what you are and have, but complain about lacking things, you are kidding yourself. The only aggrieved person here is you. Do not keep repressing those wants just because it seems to hard, and you are too lazy to get them done. Do commit to something and see it through. Do not “give it a go”. Do it. This will get you what you want.

Showing value to people means putting yourself out there and showing the world what you are capable of, always stating how your actions are of gain to others. Once you understand how your current ways will get you nowhere, and commit to do some changes to get what you want, be sure to show people how what you want to do brings value to them. We live in society, therefore any action you take to get what you want will have repercussions. If you rehearse the positive aspects of your endeavours, people will understand and actually help! You get what you want faster and better if you include your peers in the process (for example, in the sharing economy provider scenario, show the user you are serving how your services or products are valuable to them).

Once you get what you want, you have to be ready to assume your new position. This means actually being mentally and physically prepared to take on your new role accordingly. Getting what you want may be a position in life, in work, getting a certain thing, an asset, etc. Whatever it is, you must think ahead what is the behaviour you will embrace when finally you get it. It may sound as a trivial thing… “how should I behaviour if I get a new car?” or “how should I behaviour if I get a new pair of boots?” or even better “how should I behaviour if I set myself financially free at last?”, but if you think about it, achieving immediately triggers great feelings and rewarding warmth when remembering the efforts you did, and obstacle you overcome to achieve the goal. Humans beings are proven not to be satisfied with latest achievements, never.

You will want more. And that is fine.

Just be aware how your behaviour will affect your persona, those who surround you and your next steps. If you are successful and able to manage yourself to achieve set goals, why stop there? committing and getting things done is a repeatable process you will end up enjoining after the first one…

We hope this post finds you on a place in your life where you are hungry for more. If you are set for life and are reading this just because you like the writing, good for you, and please do comment how you did it!!. But for those of us who are still in the quest for more, in the search of rat-race freedom, please make sure you absorb these tips to trick your inner self out of lethargy and get it moving.

It is out of our comfort zone to make time to think about what to write, how to do it, research it and try to communicate as best we can… but we do it because we believe in this sharing economy as a way to achieve the so desired lifestyle we want. And actually, now we enjoy it deeply. We do encourage you to do the same, and count on us to walk the way through success.
