Delhi-NCR is again India’s biggest. But, this time it’s not good. In the name of de-addicting people it operates private prison camps.

How many are legal?

  • Government runs 6.
  • NGOs run 498.

How many are illegal?

  • 300 and counting.
  • Outskirts of Delhi.

What’s their business model?

  • Patients get pick up and drop facility at INR 700/ trip.
  • They charge INR 5500/ month to INR 10,000/ month.
  • Each centre has 20 to 40 patients at a time ( INR 2,50,000 to INR 4,00,000 per month).

Who runs this?

  • Ex drug addicts who got out from the recognized centers.
  • Landlords who want to earn quick money.

Delhi High court has asked the police and MCD to stop illegal centers as it is a human rights violation.
