Asia Times compared two schools, which are 20 kms apart. One is in Delhi, while the other is in UP. It found stark differences. AAP runs Delhi, while BJP runs UP.

Brief:

  • The schools continue to work out of ramshackle buildings, with poor quality mid-day meals, and an acute shortage of teachers.
  • Aam Aadmi Party has invested and changed the face of state schools. They are better than private schools.

What did Delhi do, which UP did not?

  • While Delhi recruited thousands of primary school teacher, there is a shortage of nearly 1,00,000 teachers in primary schools of UP.
  • While Delhi allocated 26% of its annual budget to education, UP only did 13%.
