Entrepreneurs will benefit more by being a generalist than being a specialist. A specialist knows just one part of the job. A generalist set up world’s most influential advertising agency.

Bill bernbach was founder of Doyle Dane Bernbach. For Levy’s Bread he did not involve specialists to come up with an ad. Instead, he used his experiences over the years from advertising to non rye eating people, traveling in subways. ‘You do not have to be Jewish’ campaign was beyond successful.

Ad legend Dave Trott wrote, “Because modern advertising is done by specialists not generalists. It’s done by people who can’t see the overall picture, just their own particular part.Consequently, they think that part is always the most important part.”

A generalist sees the overall picture. Famous cartoonist Scott Adams suggest acquiring as many skills as possible, as it doubles the odds of success.
