Zizira Exports from Shillong is connecting artisans with e-commerce.

Local commerce will be the dominating theme for the small businesses. Big and centralised supply chains do not adapt to the changing scenarios such as Covid. Big Basket can only serve about 3 lakh customers per day.

Zizira is a food business from Meghalaya. It sells world’s best ginger, honey, turmeric, teas and spices. They pay farmers more than the fair pay while building disciplined, beneficial, long-term working relationships. Unlike Zizira Big basket buys its groceries and vegetables in the bulk, which are redistributed to the customers.

As per Zizira: Our team are in the fields finding the best most trustworthy farmers and selecting the best quality of each ingredients. They hunt for special products that may not be readily available in India.

Even big box retailers such as Big Bazaar are migrating to online. The online presence of brands do not require huge capital outlay as the offline brands. Applying the basic fundamentals of marketing small brands can compete with big brands.
