Pandemic has accelerated trends such as tele medicine, as it helps in social distancing. Rajat Gupta was ready for the opportunity as he had built an online tele-medicine platform. My Upchar grew 300% during the lockdown.

Rajat started My Upchar in 2016. It offers free consultations with doctors, lab tests and home delivery of medicines. Visitors (5 crore) to the website can also read quality content about health. 10 lakh people seek consultation. About 90% of the queries are from outside of the metros. Around 64 per cent of patients ask for allopathic doctors. 24.3% look for Ayurveda and 11.4% look for Homeopathy.

In an interview to Your Story Rajat shared how he got the idea: “I was running an e-commerce venture, Shimply. We were into selling handicrafts and indigenous products. When we launched the Hindi version of the website, Ayurveda suddenly became 50 percent of the business.”
