Delhi was the first metro to come out of the lock-down. Positivity rate had come down to 1.5%. 10,000 businesses had shut down before the second wave.

Unlocking started from 31st May. First construction industry and factories aome out. Both employ lakhs daily wagers and labourers and migrant workers. Government did not for the vaccines, as its availability wasn’t certain. Recently Delhi government announced that it has vaccinated 1cr people.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said, “The lockdown cannot be extended for an unlimited period since people are suffering and businesses are shutting down. In the coming days, we will have to see how much can be opened up and how it can be opened. But if the reopening is dependent on vaccination, then we do not even know when we will be able to vaccinate all.”

Businesses will have to restart again after the last year’s recovery. Unlike first wave, the second wave will force people to save more. Though, the supply chain did not face constraints this year. Businesses will have to wait for slow and painful recovery this time.
