Our Story begins…
With our co founder’s “start-up dream” and their decision to create a cloud-based, feature rich application that met every conceivable requirement of today’s finance professional.
All the functions, none of the faff….
The company first began in 2006. Hugh and Colin had been working together for some time producing online e-Procurement solutions and Timesheet Software in the days of Web 1.0. As technology advanced, with the invention of Ajax, they decided to design software that would encompass everything they would need from an accounting perspective but in a more interactive and intuitive way.
A cloud-based technology that would resolve all the frustrations these two consummate finance professional had faced.. and with that Aqilla was born.
Amongst functionality, an important factor was to make the Aqilla purely web-based so that users didn’t have the complexity of having to install and update software programs.
That feature is still an important one today, with the prevalence of smart phones and tablets our clients can use Aqilla anywhere, we’ve even had someone log into Aqilla whilst on holiday in the Seychelles.
Hugh and Colin also had ideas about the company that they wanted to create working behind Aqilla.
“We wanted to create a company that we would WANT to work for”
And that’s exactly what they’ve done. Over 10 years down the line and the company still doesn’t own a filing cabinet due to its green values and a paperless office. At our company All Hands meeting earlier this very month, we had employees fly in from all over the world. This is representative of the places Aqilla is available too with the platform available in multiple currencies and languages (including Double Byte and Right-to-Left support)!
