I opened my doors as a consultant in 2003 after working for financial institutions as a mid-level administrative role. My intent was to gain knowledge in various sectors. My learning curve has always been quick to jump into the throws of a new profession, self-taught with determination, and I had and I still do a reason for my mad hatters journey: I am a creative type [an artist] navigating through my long road of my career, advertising and film/video production. With all the fortitude and purpose that laid out before me, I sought positions with all the mediums: magazines, television, and radio. I was not fond of newspaper format because it was not something I wanted to pursue until later which I did as a journalist for a tech and gadget section. I must chuckle to myself that I chose the most difficult areas to succeed. Invisible barriers to outright and blatant discrimination were obstacles laid before my yellow brick road. That is okay, I told myself. I brushed the dirt off my black silk suit and moved forward. Do you know why. There are two professional elements in my life: I like to build things. Create new possibilities and startups.
