Department of Defence and sensitive data with blockchain

The U.S. Department of Defense, or, by acronym, the DOD, accounts for about forty percent of the federal government’s research and development spending.
The DOD manages and supervises documents (about four and a half million) for about four thousand users. In order to protect such a huge mass of sources and information, about two hundred thousand dollars have been allocated to create a blockchain proof of concept platform that guarantees integration, security, verifiability, and controlled access.
The winner of the Phase I project, as part of the Small Business Innovation Research (“SBIR”) program, is a company of the State of Indiana, the Simba Chain, which receives funds within the Federal Funding for Research and Development (R&D), FY2020, signed by President Trump.
SIMBA Chain has been awarded and has successfully completed previous contracts with DARPA, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the U.S. Department of Defense, is therefore accredited, not least because one of the co-founders and project manager is Ian Taylor, recognized among the top 40 blockchain influencers in 2018.
The project is called ALAMEDA, acronym of Authenticity Ledger for Auditable Military Enclaved Data Access, and will take place from June 1 to September 30, 2020.
SIMBA Chain’s cloud-based Smart Contract as a Service (SCaaS) platform will allow users of all skill sets to create and deploy decentralized applications (dapps) for iOS, Android and other platforms, triggering secure and direct connections between users and providers, without a third party interface.
The architectural requirements of Phase I include:
· Create access controls for documents and data sets;
· ensuring integrity through validation mechanisms;
· establish document delivery and access controls;
· enable quick searches, and
· Establish a standardized path for data providers and repositories to easily integrate documents and data sets into the system.
