Absence in Leadership

Where is the beckon of light for guidance?

So why has the White House or Pete Buttigieg not graced the state of Ohio since this train derailment? That is the question of the day.

I mean, we know the White House knows how to gather the leadership and circle the wagons around things they want to twist and push. You know, like when Georgia passed an election law. You know, the one, that after the law was passed, the next election had the largest voter turnout. Proving the narrative from the WH was utterly false. The same law that the White House called Jim Crow era laws. You know, the same law that the President criticized only to get four Pinnochios for lying. I mean, that law, he scurried down there without hesitation. The VP spoke about it. He had everyone behind it.

Now we have a major EPA catastrophe, and then there is crickets from this administration. Only citizens’ health is in danger here. You know, we will probably see higher rates of cancer and birth defects from this. Maybe, the WH is recommending masking up and social distancing. That used to be their answer to anything. But hey, they couldn’t twist this into a race issue, now could they? The EPA is supposed to be there for times like these, right? Not just to levy fines. At least, that’s what I thought.

So maybe the administration isn’t going there because they lost Ohio in the last Presidential election? Hmm. I don’t know. I am just tossing it out there. I have said it many times. The President plays like he is the President to his base or party and not the country. But a President is to be President of all, not just his base.

So why has this administration yet to show a significant leadership presence on the ground? You know, to provide that beckon of light in a time of distress.

In the military, when something terrible happens, we immediately get leadership on the ground. It is basic leadership 101. For one, it gives the impression that you, hmm, really care! Hello! I am just calling how I see it. Second, it allows you to hear from the people on the ground because they have concerns and want their problems heard. I don’t know what the logic is waiting eight days for Pete Buttigieg to address this from afar or why he still hasn’t been there roughly two weeks later.

He even explained that “people who were there because they have a specific job to do and are there to get something done. And people were there to look good and have their picture taken.” [1] Let me throw this out there. Maybe some families are there, and they are freaking worried. Instead of twisting this, they just want answers from Buttigieg or the WH. I am just stating the obvious here. When there are disasters, people want answers from those in positions of responsibility and authority.

Now let me ask this. Why has the President not directed Buttigieg or the VP to go there? Or why has the POTUS not been there, either? Is people’s lives not as relevant to the President as made-up twisted Jim Crow insinuations? I am just asking. This is the time to be Presidential and show leadership, not hope the problem disappears. Maybe 46, the VP, and Buttigieg should all take a drink out of the local water in Ohio instead of sending people from the EPA to a staged drinking event. Lead from the front.

The people of Ohio and America are demanding answers from their elected and appointed officials. In our country, elected officials are responsible for answering up, not playing avoidance games.

America deserves far better from this administration. Lord knows, right now, Ohioans deserve better. Does anyone think Ohio will vote for 46 in the next election? I mean, since he doesn’t care, why should they care about him?
