We have a document problem with our senior elected officials.

I have stayed out of this conversation for some time, but finally, I had to dive in head first.

We all know that the Mar-a-Lago document raid back in September regarding former President Trump. For some, the raid even seemed an extreme overreach and intrusive. I tend to lean that way myself. When you find documents in a safe, desk, or closet, the first thing that goes to my mind is, “yep, guys, let’s go look in the wife’s underwear drawer.” Not! Just saying, but hey, I wasn’t on the ground for that. It must have been something strategically important that stuck out for the person on the ground to make that call.

Then we have the current POTUS, that knew about these documents before the mid-term but felt it was more important to say something in mid-January instead of at the time of discovery. You know the deal, got to look out for the party before the country mentality. Now they have been discovered in several places, including in the garage with his Corvette. Joe wants us to know that the Corvette was secured and doesn’t want to discuss the documents too much. Go figure! Some of these documents were from his VP days, whereas others were from his days as a Senator. Yes, as a Senator, that was a long time ago.

Now, we just had the former Vice President announce that he had classified documents and notified the FBI to ensure they take them.

Okay, I am not a smart man, but I will approach the elephant in the room. We have a problem with the chain of custody of sensitive documents regarding our senior elected officials. I even discussed that a bit in a podcast that was released Monday.

Have we heard from Obama, Bush, Cheney, Clinton, Gore, or Carter on this? I wonder why. Just saying they are tight-lipped for a reason.

To put it nicely, we also know that HRC had an extremely frivolous approach to sensitive items. I don’t want to get on her bad side. We all know what happens to those that do. If you question that, we can discuss that server and her emails (especially the classified ones) for a long time.

We are at an unprecedented time in our history. This period of history leads me to believe that we may have always had this problem or that we are finally ugly enough to each other to throw it all out on the table finally. So, if we are throwing it all out on the table, I mean, let all that dirt out. Then let’s get it all out there. Congress needs to relook the current laws and either make them more strenuous or find better protocols. This document blunder is our elected officials on full display showing their incompetence. These elected officials are overwhelmed with a simple chain of custody regarding sensitive paperwork.

Regardless of what side of the aisle you are on, this is a national security problem, and it should not be overbrushed, overlooked, or “wiped.” Isn’t that right, HRC! The people whom both you and I elected to run our country haven’t taken that part seriously. They are only concerned when there is a microphone in front of them, and then it is, hmm, what is the word I am looking for??? Oh yea, it is “irresponsible.” The rest of the time, for these elected officials, it is just passé. But I would say it is “irresponsible,” with or without an audience or microphone in front of someone. It is “irresponsible” anytime sensitive documents are not handled within the law and standard protocols.

America deserves better than this, for we would have no problem punishing a junior servicemember for the same actions.
