The Comic Jam Pays Tribute To One Of Comic’s Founding Fathers
On June 29th of this year, the comics world lost a hero. Artist and writer Steve Ditko (co-creator of Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and other works) passed away at the age of 90 in his New York City apartment. Ditko, known for being a recluse, preferred to speak via his creations which he produced til the end.
This week we honor Steve Ditko and hopefully shine a light on his importance to the comics medium, and pop culture at large. The work that he did challenges and inspires readers to this day. I hope you all enjoy our tribute, and more importantly I hope you take a moment to look at the incredible work of Steve Ditko and recognize how truly ahead of it’s time it was.
Rob Toal is a painter and comics creator born and bred in NYC. He studied fine arts painting and illustration at the School of Visual Arts. He lives in the Bronx where, along with his wife, he’s being held hostage by a thoroughly beautiful and highly intelligent little girl.

CGhirardo sees comics as art and looks to push the boundaries of the medium. Painting in watercolor and finding inspiration in modern fine art, CGhirardo calls his comics “Sequential Surrealism”
Nick Bryan is a London-based writer of comics and prose. He likes dark comedy, moral ambiguity and a nice white beer.
Ryan Foust is a southern born illustrator who makes comics with independent writers and creates commissioned illustration work for customers all over the world. His work has been seen in books from publishers like Image Comics, Source Point Press, Paper Films and Loud Paintings.
Jeremy Wilfinger is a writer from California. In addition to his writing, Jeremy has been working as a colorist and letterer in the world of comics. See his work here:
Kenn O’Neal moved to Southern California after a childhood in Newark, New Jersey. After a run-in with school bullies, Kenn was taken under the wing of an aging handyman and taught the art of Karate. The new skills not only helped Kenn to defeat the bullies in the All-Valley Karate Championship, but also taught him the value of personal balance and the importance of never giving up…or maybe i just wrote the plot for The Karate Kid because to forgot to ask Kenn for a quick bio.
