If you want to live your life with a feeling of purpose that will keep you on your toes and make you grow, you need to learn how to master your emotions. It’s like having a rudder on a boat that helps you stay safe while you explore.

My work is not for everyone because some view safety as staying put. But not my clients! Having built an emotional rudder together, they feel safe to sail through a life of purpose.

Do you believe having purpose matters in life?

Have you ever noticed that those who struggle with finding their purpose do not feel safe going there? They seem unwilling to get out of what they know. They hang on to what’s predictable, thinking that will keep them safe. But if that were true, they would have already found their purpose. So, what’s the problem?

Do you believe purpose comes with a clear sense of direction?

Many people falsely believe that knowing our purpose is enough to keep us on track to achieve the growth and freedom we desire. But that’s not true. You can hold a compass in your hand, and you may know you want to head True North. But if you don’t know how to read your compass or let fear get to you, you may get lost even while knowing the direction you want to go and why.

Does having an emotional rudder make you feel safe?

Having an emotional rudder is having someone who has already walked the path and resolved most of the pitfalls that may lie ahead of you. They know what to look for and where to look. They are not afraid to get lost. They have been there.

Imagine having a sense of purpose and direction that keeps you on your toes and makes you want to grow. Imagine feeling safe taking bold steps that might make others squirm in their comfort zone. Imagine how good it would feel to have the impact you deeply desire. What would it be worth to you to live on purpose?

Safety comes with accountability.

Recently, I asked a client to rate how far out of their comfort zone they were. They laughed and said, “If one (1) is comfortable and ten (10) is terrifying, I’m about an 8 out of 10.”

When asked, “Would you play small again?” my client exclaimed, “No way!”

Being directed by a powerful emotional rudder has given this client more than double their income. They are building a thriving business with a three-month waiting list to see them. And that is just the beginning. They have many other dreams they want me to help them achieve.

Look. You are smart enough to know you can’t go where you want to go while staying put. You want to sail further than what’s comfortable. And the only way to do that is to build a powerful emotional rudder to hold you fiercely accountable to live on purpose.

So let me ask you.

Do you aspire to sail through a life of purpose? If you do, Who will be the coach or mentor you employ at your service to assist you?
