Never Give Up
Sometimes, when we try to give up an unwanted behavior, and we keep going back to it, we lose faith in ourselves. We often feel demoralized, worthless, and sometimes just give up. Never give up. Even if you’re disheartened, and you think you are a complete and total failure, you are NOT. You have a reason for being here, and these challenges are part of that reason. It’s the failures that teach us the most. Thomas Edison claimed he never failed; he “simply found a thousand ways that did not work.” Think of what he would have missed out on if he’d given up!
You are here for a reason, and no matter how much you have struggled to overcome something — that has caused you more trouble than it’s worth, keep working at it. Keep trying something new. You may not realize it, but you are learning, and you are achieving small increments of success. All of those small increments will come together one day. Never let anyone take that away from you. As they say in the twelve-step programs, “progress, not perfection.” As long as you keep trying, you are making progress. Never give up. Never. You are worth the journey.
