Normal is Over!

We all thought we would get back to normal once the pandemic calmed down. Now everyone, except those who are incredibly naïve or deep into conspiracy theory, realizes THIS (whatever “this” is) IS NORMAL.

We will never return to the normal we once had, no matter how much denial we put up. If we are to survive and thrive as business owners and business leaders, we must embrace change. We cannot expect to survive more than five years if we don’t embrace adaptation. The political climate has changed. People who had no voice are suddenly standing up for what they believe. According to analysts, the pandemic raised workers’ safety concerns. The rapid recovery of the economy since the Coronavirus shock has also produced an unusually tight labor market, which has given workers greater bargaining power. Recently, Amazon has recognized a trade union in the US, illustrating this point. The Amazon union drive accompanies a general surge of labor activism in the United States. Organizers have spearheaded similar campaigns with Starbucks, smaller retailers, media outlets, and others.

But something far less obvious is taking place, something that will stop many multinational organizations in their tracks. The most powerful driving force of human behavior is meaning, and whether we know it or not, the company that thinks it doesn’t
