Signal implements these Whatsapp features in the latest update
Recently Elon Musk posted on Twitter “Use Signal”. After that, Signal Messenger draws millions of users to download the Signal app. Before the Elon Musk tweet, the Signal app has only 10M installs on the Android platform, and after one-week Signal app also posted a photo on Twitter showing the increased number of downloads to 50M on PlayStore.
Not only Elon’s tweet draw attention to the Signal app, but the changes in Whatsapp privacy policy pull user’s attention to the Signal app.
The new privacy policy of WhatsApp asks users to share user’s data with Facebook. You cannot disagree with WhatsApp’s privacy policy rather than AGREE. You only get two option NOT NOW and AGREE
You won’t be able to use WhatsApp without accepting them. If you decline new Terms then WhatsApp will ask again to agree on terms again. If you have already accepted new terms, you cannot revoke them. You can read WhatsApp’s terms of service here.
Chat Wallpaper
Recently, Signal Messenger released a new update implementing features same as WhatsApp in this new update. After the announcement of new terms of service, Signal Messenger added the chat wallpaper feature in the latest beta version.
Signal
Talking about the interface of the Signal app, it looks as same as WhatsApp. Both messaging applications have Contact Name, wallpaper preview, and calling buttons on the top of the chat screen.
Contact About
Well, WhatsApp allows users to set a custom “about” now Signal messenger also introduced this same feature to set custom about.
Animated Stickers
WhatsApp introduced support of animated stickers in 2019, and the third part animated stickers are around the corner in WhatsApp. In a recent update, the Signal also brings the support of Animated Stickers. Signal offers to created animated stickers from the desktop app, you can share these stickers with your contacts.
Low Data Mode
Signal also implementing low data mode for calls, this feature is also first implemented by WhatsApp. This feature allows lowering data usage during calls.
Contact Suggestions
Signal introduced contact on share screen on the iOS devices, this feature is also introduced first by WhatsApp last year.
Media Download Preference
You can choose media files to download preference to you your device automatically. Guess what, this feature is also introduced to the Signal app this week.
Group Calls
Signal Messenger allows group calls limited to 5 contacts only, later Signal has changed the group call limit to 8 users.
Group Invite Links
Signal has introduced sharable group links, so you can invite Signal users to join your group with the link. WhatsApp has also introduced this feature before Signal Messenger.
