Is There A Difference Between A Successful Father and a Valuable Father

I guess it depends on your definitions

“Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.” — Albert Einstein

I wonder if this Einstein quote can be applied to fathers as well. Let’s start with definitions.

Success

The favorable or prosperous outcome of anything attempted;

So what does a successful father look like? If we go with the above definition then the thing attempted is fatherhood. This means you have children.

In my opinion, a successful father:

  1. provides the necessities of life: food, shelter, clothing.
  2. instills moral character in his kids through discipline and praise.
  3. does what he can to ensure his kids have success in their own endeavours.
  4. is present when his children need him
  5. loves the mother of his kids and gives her due respect for making him a father.
  6. is loved by his kids.
