“I don’t know what’s more exhausting about parenting: the getting up early, or acting like you know what you’re doing.” ― Jim Gaffigan

I feel this a lot. Am I tired from getting up early with my 3-month-old? Or am I tired because I am just trying to keep my kids thinking I know what I am doing?

It’s probably a combination of both.

That’s the beauty of fatherhood though. Getting up and being there for your kids, even when you don’t really know what you are doing. And then, out of nowhere, you know exactly what you are doing and do it well.

So, dads, get some rest. And keep up the good work!

This Week’s Stories

21 Parenting Quotes That’ll Inspire You

By: Jack Heimbigner

I’m sitting in the nursery of our house sweating right now. My 3-month-old is sleeping peacefully for her nap for the first time all day.

I don’t dare put her down.

If I do, I know what will happen. She’ll wake up. Scream and shout at me for thinking I would be free to take a shower. Then scream and shout some more because we both are sweating. And then continually grump at me the rest of the day.

Being a parent is a challenging responsibility. As a guy who grew up in the ’80s and ’90s a lot of my exposure to parenting came from TV and Movies. I’ve learned the hard way that no 30-minute sitcom or 90-minute movie can even scratch the surface of what it’s like to be a parent.

Weekly Dad Jokes

Did you hear about the new corduroy pillow? It’s making headlines!

I actually stole this right off of a show my wife and I are watching right now. Oddly enough, not a single person gets it until I explain it. Maybe corduroy is just to far gone…

This Week’s Prompt

When was the last time your kids were right about something? How did you feel? What do you learn from the situation?

I was just listening to a dad tell me about this huge lesson he learned from his kids. They had been arguing about something and they were very focused on their own arguments when they finally got an answer and his son was right.

He shared the lesson he learned from the argument and the fact that his kids can be right. He grew up where kids were never right, but the truth is, it happens. Have you had this happen?
