The cryptocurrency assets seized by the British police will be sold by the Irish auction house.
Representatives of Wilsons Auctions last week reported that the Department of special operations in the eastern region of the United Kingdom drew them for sale cryptocurrency worth £500,000, including Bitcoin, Ethereum and XRP. The auction is reserve-free, that is, the values set for it will be sold regardless of the price quoted by the participants.
The assets were seized from a criminal who illegally provided personal data on the network and hacking services in exchange for thousands of pounds in cryptocurrency.
The auction will be held in two parts on September 25–26 and will allow international investors to purchase cryptocurrency in lots. Bitcoins will be sold in lots from 0.25 to 2 BTC, and other cryptocurrencies in larger volumes.
This year, Wilsons Auctions also helped sell 315 Bitcoins that were seized by Belgian law enforcement. Participation in the auction then took residents of more than 90 countries.
“Following the success of our world-first public auction of bitcoin, which achieved global attention, we are excited to continue to roll out this secure service to both our public and private sector clients,” said Aidan Larkin, Wilsons Auctions Asset Recovery Director.
