A licensed Japanese crypto exchange Bitpoint lost $32 million as a result of a hacker attack, CoinDesk writes.

As follows from the publication, Bitpoint has suspended all services, including trading, input and output of cryptocurrency assets, on Friday morning, after it noticed a suspicious operation to withdraw funds from its hot wallet, carried out on Thursday.

At the moment, it is not clear what cryptocurrencies were stolen from Bitpoint. The exchange supports trading in five cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin and XRP.

Parent company Exchange Remixpoint Inc. in an official statement said that $23 million of the stolen funds belonged to customers.

This is not the first case of a successful attack on the Japanese crypto exchange, after each of which the local regulator carried out checks and tightened the rules. In September 2018, Zaif, also registered with the Financial Services Agency of Japan, lost $60 million in cryptocurrency, and at the beginning of that year, the Coincheck exchange nominally lost $520 million.
