The American transnational telecommunications conglomerate AT&T, which is also the world’s largest telecommunications company and one of the largest media conglomerates, on Thursday announced the start of accepting payment of bills in cryptocurrency.

According to the press release, BitPay processing service will help him in this. AT&T claims that, along with that move, it became the first US mobile operator to offer its customers digital currencies as a payment option.

“We’re always looking for ways to improve and expand our services,” said Kevin McDorman, vice president, AT&T Communications Finance Business Operations. “We have customers who use cryptocurrency, and we are happy we can offer them a way to pay their bills with the method they prefer.”

As explained by AT&T, customers will be able to choose BitPay as a payment option when they log into their accounts through the company’s website or mobile application.

The possibility of paying for other AT&T services with cryptocurrencies, such as buying mobile phones and other devices, is not foreseen at the current stage.
