Telegram always had spam messages containing promises of free stuff but it’s getting even more ridiculous when they try to fake a traders group chat.

To cash in on Ethereum holders, a group of unknown scammers created a whole Telegram chat with fake staff and members pretending to be a part of a big exchange called Huobi Global. They told people to transfer ETH to a fraudulent wallet before they receive HT (an aircoin) at the ratio of 1ETH: 105HT.

Believe it or not, nothing happened after that, people were just rudely lied to and stolen of their crypto. This scum stole more than 15 thousand ethereum tokens (not to mention that the biggest “contribution” was 885 ETH).

As a result, imToken had to delete their Telegram chat so that no one would lose their money with other fake groups. This is really bad news, especially since Telegram is one of the most popular Crypto platforms. Either way, Telegram should take responsibility and verify chats to prevent fraud.

But with this report in mind, I understand that it’s impossible for the crypto community to feel safe when people are getting scammed everyday. Remember to check everything twice and never send money to wallets you’re unsure of! I hope we all can agree that we need to STOP this before crypto goes full in the mainstream.
