The volume of assets on the Bitcoin wallets of the leading US cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is approaching 1 million BTC.

According to the BitUniverse tracking service, Coinbase, which was founded in 2012, currently contains 966,230 BTC or $7.19 billion, which makes Coinbase the largest hodler.

The second and third places are occupied by BitMEX and Bitstamp with 265,140 BTC and 229,490 BTC, respectively.

Coinbase is known not only as a cryptocurrency exchange service provider but also as a custodian service for storing assets of institutional investors. In August, information appeared that the digital asset manager Grayscale Investments will transfer funds from its clients to Coinbase Custody, with the total balance of the latter supposedly reaching $3.7 billion.

With regard to trading volumes, BitUniverse draws a slightly different picture. According to the service, BitMEX currently ranks first in terms of this indicator, with a combined daily turnover of more than $2 billion. Binance and Huobi Global are behind it, with $842 million and $644 million in trading volume, respectively.
