Father of C++ Criticized Bitcoin

The creator of the C ++ programming language, Bjarne Stroustrup, regrets that it was this language that was used to create the first cryptocurrency.
A programmer from Denmark expressed his opinion during a speech on the Lex Fridman’s Artificial Intelligence Podcast. Stroustrup believes that Bitcoin is often used for criminal purposes and spends as much electricity.
“Let me say it this way. When you build the tool, you don’t know how it’s gone to be used. You try to improve the tool looking on how it’s being used but […] really you have no control on how the thing is used. So, I’m very happy and proud of some things C++ is being used at and some other things I wish people wouldn’t do. Bitcoin mining be my favourite example. It uses as much energy as Switzerland and mostly serves criminals,” said the creator of C ++.
Currently, 7 GW of energy is spent on Bitcoin mining, which is about 0.21% of total world consumption. At the same time, the volume of transactions related to illegal activity in BTC is $72 billion annually.
