FedEx logistics company and Microsoft tech giant are joining together to provide commercial shipping customers with early warning of delays due to weather, traffic, and other disruptions. In this way, they will provide the courier and the software manufacturer with yet another weapon.

Last year, FedEx terminated a ground shipping agreement with Amazon. For Microsoft, Amazon is a competitor in a number of areas, primarily in the field of cloud technology.

A service using Microsoft cloud software will provide real-time data to large and small companies to identify ways to improve ways to move goods. Among other things, FedEx will now use the Microsoft Azure cloud service.

The launch of the new FedEx Surround service, which includes tracking the supply chain of goods, was also announced. For example, a medical device manufacturer may learn from the new FedEx Surround service that a blizzard threatens to delay the delivery of a heart surgery kit to the hospital. Based on the high priority of the package, the dispatch can be redirected to make sure that it arrives on time.

Recall that Microsoft announced its intention to invest a billion dollars in the acceleration of innovative development and digital transformation of Poland.

The basis of this multi-year plan is to open a new local data center in the country, which will become part of the global Microsoft cloud to provide a wide ecosystem of startups, entrepreneurs and enterprises.
