William O’Neil is one of the most influential traders of the 20th century. His lessons are been derived from master traders like Jesse Livermore, Nicolas Darvas, and Richard Wyckoff. His CAN SLIM trading method not only made him very successful but influenced many successful traders until today.

William J. O’Neil (born in 1933) is one of the most influential traders of the 20th century. He is also the inventor of the CAN SLIM trading method, the technofundamental trading approach, and the Investor’s Business Daily newspaper.

William was born in Oklahoma in the US and raised in Texas. He was a baby boomer born around the Great Depression era. He received his Bachelor's degree in business and, in his 20s, started working as a stockbroker.

In this early computer era, he developed his CAN SLIM stock screening method. It was that in this period, William O’Neil turned $5'000 into $200'000 in a single year. This translates to a 3'900% yearly return.

O’Neil was also the youngest person who ever got into the New York stock exchange. He was 30 years old at that time.
