Acronis startup has published a survey of IT industry employees. It was found that 87% of industry workers fear an increase in the scale of hidden mining (crypto-jacking).

13% of the employees told the researchers that if the power of their computers as a result of the defeat by the virus-miner does not significantly decrease, then they are not worried about the threat of crypto-jacking.

According to startup analysts, over the past two years, the scale of hidden mining in the world has increased by more than 30%. 88% of respondents said that in addition to miner viruses, they fear attacks from ransomware, which also sharply intensified last year.

Recall that crypto-jacking experts call the unauthorized use of someone else’s device for mining cryptocurrency. Such devices can be computers, smartphones, or a whole network of computing equipment.

Hackers inject malicious software when a victim installs an application or visits a website on the Internet. After the device is defeated, the virus begins to use its computing power to extract coins.

Moreover, very often the user does not even suspect that his computer or smartphone is used for hidden mining. However, a person is faced with the problem of a sharp drop in the performance of his device.
