Along with Reddit, Twitter is the top platform for communication among crypto enthusiasts. If you follow a dozen most popular accounts, you will not only stay aware of what is happening in the market, but will also get a deeper understanding of the cryptocurrency world.

In this article, we collected the top seven Twitter accounts with a wide outreach, great number of subscribers, and high impact on the crypto industry. Follow them to stay tuned to what’s happening in the crypto world.

1. Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum co-founder

2.2M Followers

Vitalik Buterin is one of the key players in crypto. He learned about Bitcoin very early from his father and quickly founded Bitcoin magazine, one of the first crypto-focused resources. In 2013, he introduced an improvement proposal to increase Bitcoin’s scalability, but it was rejected, and Buterin founded Ethereum. Five years following its launch, the protocol started a large-scale transition to Ethereum 2.0 that is supposed to finish by 2022.

Vitalik actively tweets about all major events taking place in the crypto world. But his Twitter is of interest not because he simply comments on the news or has discussions with Elon Musk. Buterin offers a thorough analysis of crypto events and critically reviews major issues of the industry. He has his own philosophy and vision of the future based on the decentralization of the internet and governance. Each Buterin’s tweet is full of this philosophy, and that’s why it’s interesting to follow him.

2. Changpeng Zhao, CEO Binance

3.1M Followers

Changpeng Zhao, or simply CZ, is the founder of Binance — an exchange that rocked the crypto world back in 2017. Once launched, Binance offered a great choice of assets and low fees, which allowed it to surge to a $0.5B daily trading volume in just 3 months. CZ became one of the first crypto billionaires, and by 2020, Binance reached a total of $2 trillion in trading volume.

In one of his security announcements on Twitter, CZ made a funny typo writing “funds are safu”. It went viral and turned into a crypto meme, which added popularity to CZ. Now, his Twitter is full of news from Binance, airdrops, and sometimes thoughts on serious controversial topics worth reflecting on.

Follow CZ if you don’t want to miss Binance news affecting the entire crypto industry and the price of BNB.

3. Charlie Lee, Litecoin creator

Charlie Lee is best known as a Litecoin creator. He learned about Bitcoin while working at Google; first, he started mining it, and then decided to build his own crypto coin. He quit Coinbase where he was working as an engineering director at the time and sharted developing Litecoin as a rival to Bitcoin.

Unlike Craig Wright, the creator of BSV, Lee has never questioned the importance of the original Bitcoin. During its rapid rise to $7K in July 2018, he wrote a tweet that became one of his most trending publications at that moment:

In his Twitter, Charlie Lee criticizes Dollar, hails Litecoin, and posts numerous updates on his brainchild crypto. Lee also raises such important issues for crypto as security, fungibility, and many more.

4. Andreas Antonopoulos, Bitcoin expert and educator

Andreas Antonopoulos is one of the most respected authors and educators in cryptocurrency. Besides his Twitter with over half a million subscribers, he also speaks publicly in podcasts and on such platforms as Bloomberg, BBC, and CNN. Antonopoulos’ books “Mastering Bitcoin” and “Mastering Ethereum” are considered among the best ones in the industry; another book of this series dedicated to Lightning network will be released later in 2021.

In 2017, many crypto enthusiasts learned that Andreas Antonopoulos was working for free for a long time and had just recently gotten out of his debt. This shocked the community as many were guessing that Antonopoulos should have been a Bitcoin millionaire by the time. After he said that he had bought some Bitcoin and sold it in 2013 to pay rent, supporters donated him about 100 BTC.

Follow Antonopoulos on Twitter if you are interested in quality educational content in crypto.

5. Naval Ravikant, a crypto investor and tech philosopher

1.3M Followers

Naval Ravikant’s Twitter starts with a thread on “How to Get Rich (without getting lucky).” Although posted in 2018, it remains highly relevant until today.

Ravikant is an investor and a crypto maximalist who believes in the future of decentralization and privacy for cryptocurrency. He has invested in the algorithmic stablecoin protocol Fei and Chia Network; among his non-crypto investments, there are Uber, Twitter, and Foursquare. Once, Ravikant was operating MetaStable Capital hedge fund, but now, he’s more of a tech philosopher.

Ravikant’ Twitter may not be the most obvious recommendation of a crypto source to follow: his tweets are mostly general thoughts that don’t seem to have close connection with digital assets at the first glance. However, this way Ravinkat shares his rich experience in crypto, and it will be useful to follow him for anyone who wants to launch a project or simply learn from a seasoned market influencer.

6. Adam Back, Bitcoin developer and enthusiast

Adam Back is a Bitcoin developer and maximalist sometimes considered the founder of the first cryptocurrency. On the contrary, according to forums, Back was the first person contacted by Satoshi Nakamoto, and the question was about Hashcash — a verification algorithm that Back created. The developer denied being Satoshi and even claimed that it would be better for us not to know his identity due to our hierarchical mindset.

Besides numerous funny GIFs about Bitcoin on Back’s Twitter, you can see news about BTC, updates of Bitcoin-based projects such as Lightning, and thoughts regarding the nature and future of Bitcoin.

7. Laura Shin, a crypto journalist

In her Twitter, Shin posts interviews with crypto influencers and news about the events in the industry. Shin also keeps track of NFT and collects hot tweets helpful for everyone who’s interested in the subject.
