Week 17 was another short week, because of the holiday, with a lot packed into it. While there was still a small amount of exploratory research to wrap up, the greater part of the week was spent interviewing people who worked to organize special needs shelters in Florida.

From these interviews, we were able to draw a ton of new insights and validate many of our our concepts. Here’s a breakdown of the feedback we received and how we’re going to going to incorporate it into our new designs that we hope to user test soon:

As can be seen, much of the feedback we received was positive, but with several caveats that we are going to incorporate into our wireframes. It looks like, hopefully, we’re on the right track.

One large issue we’ll have to solve, however, is how to embed our solution. It’s the best route towards credibility and would be the most likely to prompt use. The problem is, there are no industry standard care apps, or any other standard apps commonly used by people with special needs and/or their caregivers. This is going to be an important point of focus for our design moving forward.

Another important point that we’re going to be working on in the coming week is getting feedback from family caregivers. That is a group ideally would make up a large portion of our users, and we need more validation from them. It’s also important to get a better mental model of how they deal with disaster type situations.
