Affinity Diagraming

Week 6 started out with a bang. The Artists did their affinity diagram! We drew from all of our interviews with experts, survivors, etc. as well as the results of our M. Turk survey.

It took 5+ hours and as we gather more interviews, we’re still adding to it!

First Design Sprint

Only four days later, everyone on the team presented their first design ideas for the project. These were very open ended and could tackle any area of disasters, from preparedness to recovery, and hospitals to transportation. One thing we noticed after review, was that only one team member (Marina) included a plan to focus on recovery.

Preparing to evaluate the design sprints.

Research Summary for Client

On Friday, we presented our research findings so far to our client liaison. This meeting went well, especially since our earliest interviews with their clients finally began to validate the problem space they wanted us to explore. The client agreed to further our research by connecting us to more of their clients.

Aside from a few more interviews, in the coming week we plan on doing a second design sprint, this time focusing exclusively on issues related to people sheltering in hospitals during disasters.
