Book Review: The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern is a book you read to escape. It’s a new world…a world full of magic and ice gardens and people with peculiar powers.
The book tells the story of two children, Celia and Marco, whose guardians put them up for an old, dangerous competition. They grow up competing against each other in this game of magic…creating what the rest of the world know as Cirque des Rêves…circus of dreams.
They meet each other as adults, and all hell breaks loose as the magic of the game is threatened by the magic of their mutual attraction to each other. As they fall for each other, they discover the nature of he competition, and it’s implications on them and all those related to the circus.
Their magic is transformed into love letters…a magical carousel, an ice garden, a pool of tears…and the game that was lethal to one becomes a death sentence to both.
Magic. Fantasy. Intelligence. Love.
Such an unusual read!
It truly is a book you would want to climb into and just live there. I found it in a “books you read to escape list”..and I did need an escape, so I read it.
It’s like time travel. Once the story really picks up, you forget the actual world in its entirety and dive into this story of love and strength and magic. Perfect.
Promise I’m not just a sappy girl gushing about a romance book. It really is good. You should check it out.
