Just like building applications, community building requires a proactive attention to the details. With that in mind, Rachael Serur and Omid Bachari endeavored (and succeeded!) to create a conference for Elixir in New England. Not just any conference — but a conference whose stated purpose was focused on more than just the technology.

After all — what is technology without a community behind it?

It’s this attention and conscious thought about the details beyond tech that made us proud to be an active participant at the conference. With speakers from varied backgrounds, attendees learned not only about the core aspects of Elixir, but also how we can grow this emerging community to be a diverse and welcoming one. Panelists during lunch enlightened the audience about how to create a “Framework for Inclusivity”.

At Echobind, we take a proactive approach in the communities that we’ve joined. We help grow the community by organizing meetups and putting on free workshops. Elixir with Love was the perfect opportunity to combine two important elements of the work that we do: technology and the reasons for itpeople.
