SparkPoint signs MOU with BU for TBI program
SparkPoint Innovations Inc. Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Rico Zuñiga with Bicol University (BU) President Arnulfo Mascariñas, Ph.D. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Technology Business Incubation (TBI) Program of the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) on October 6, 2020 at the BU East Campus, Legazpi City. Other outwall incubatees, Studio Down South and 10x Philippines, participated in the signing of MOU as well.
SparkPoint Innovations Inc. is a globally competitive project that focuses on financial inclusion by integrating blockchain technology and promoting financial literacy awareness to reinvent the world of digital payments. It encourages people t to participate in digitizing payment transactions by providing inclusive financial services integrated with blockchain technology, easing the hassle of transferring money & participating in cryptocurrency exchanges.
As of March 9, 2020, SparkPoint Innovations Inc. applied for incubation under the Start-up Incubation and Limitless Integration of Dynamic Entrepreneurial Leaders of Innovation (SILI-DELI), the first technology business incubator of Bicol funded and initiated by DOST-PCIEERD’s TBI program in partnership with BU’s Center for Technology Commercialization and Enterprise Development (BUCTCED).
The TBI Program is one of the strategies identified by the DOST to promote innovation and technopreneurship for the Philippines’ socio-economic development in a knowledge-based world economy. TBI involves an ecosystem where innovation is promoted and supported by commercialization. It aims to help startup technology-based businesses by providing a range of resources, services, and facilities needed during the development stage.
